  • New strategies and technologies for transport and storage of natural gas could change the availability and affordability of this energy source.

  • U.S. Shale Revolution & The Permian Success

    The U.S. energy renaissance was accomplished through technology innovation by resolute industry pioneers.  After more than a decade of experimentation, George Mitchell of Houston, an explorer, used the combination of horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing to turn the Barnett Shale into one of the most prolific gas fields in North America.

    The rise of this technology had effects well beyond the Barnett, making the production of unconventional reservoirs a possibility within our industry. More recently, there has been a sustained increase in production as a result of digital innovation, operational efficiencies and collaboration, particularly in the Permian Basin.

    This session focused on unconventional reservoir development will highlight the innovation, technology and operational excellence of key U.S. players— both large and small.

  • Digital Technology Advancements for the Oilfield

    Industry has embraced digitalisation strategies to drive commercial value chain optimization with end-to-end visibility that enables fact-based decisions and positive results.

    Operators and service companies alike are working with digital/cloud computing companies to identify more efficient ways to learn from the massive amounts of data collected by our industry, to sort terabytes into actionable information and to achieve optimization.

    This session will highlight established world leaders, entrepreneurs and start-ups in innovation, big data analytics, artificial intelligence and robotics for energy transition for today and in the future.  

  • Midstream Infrastructure & Technology Innovation

    The O&G industry transports and distributes materials and derived products (molecules) to the entire value chain through various modes.

    What are the challenges and opportunities in infrastructure development – Pipelines, Rail, Ports, Road, LNG terminals, Marine transportation?

    This session will explore technologies and innovations within the U.S. midstream sector, including knowledge sharing in technology development, safety management systems (SMS) and addressing public perception of this key industry segment.

  • Cross-Industry Technology Applications

    The oil & gas industry fosters innovation through collaboration with other industries, including aerospace, medical and others.

    This session will take advantage of the world class medical and aerospace facilities and thought leadership in Houston. Houston is home to the Texas Medical Center, one of the largest medical research centers in the world, and to the U.S. National Aeronautics & Space Administration (NASA).

    Major contributions from both fields have oil and gas applications.  Medical imaging of blood flow across the body and nanotechnology tracers used by doctors correlate to seismic imaging, drilling and reservoir optimization, EOR / IOR and to seismic interpretation.

    Countless innovations developed for space exploration now impact our daily lives.  Hear how space innovation, efficient scale-up / -down technologies and the study of the earth processes impact our industry.
